The Centre for Livelihoods and Ecology (CLE) at Royal Roads University conducts strategic and applied research to encourage the wise use of natural resources as a way to diversify and sustain rural communities. We use interdisciplinary approaches to understand the ecological and human dimensions of a wide range of natural resource issues. We provide information, analysis and reommendations to support decision-making and action by individuals, communities and governments. An interactive program of extension and training helps promote information sharing among researchers, traditional users, NTFP harvesters, resource managers, natural resource-based business owners and entrepreneurs, and policy makers. CLE works through a wide range of partnerships and networks, from the community to the international level, as an effective way to create and share knowledge and experience.
